Winter Gales

The gales have blown down 3 trees and left the Garden with endless branches a debris all over the place.  Plus the endless rain we have endured.  Now it is much colder with a bitter wind but in spite of that the Snow drops are OUT.  Camellias starting to flower and the daffodiles well up out of the ground.  Roll on the Spring.

June Garden as it was 2010

1st June and it's Raining.!  Good for the plants though.

May  past has been very good and colourful and the Trusses on the Rhododendrons were wonderful and still are.   I quess the hard winter did not do nearly as much harm as we thought it might.  Ceonothus and the Rock roses suffered and seemed to have preished.  We have left several dead looking plants just in case they might revive. The azaleas are out as well and the Iris's coming out.  The garden has just celebrated 30 years and we had a wonderful party and the weather was fine.  Embothrium longifolium 'pendula' form is out along with glorious visions of Drimys winteri lanceolata.  The primulas are looking good too.  All in all the garden is looking mature and colourful.  The hymalayan lily Cardiocrinum looks as if it is going to flower which will be exciting and we have made a new Hosta Walk, all looking well and the slugs are leaving them alone.

The roses are looking quite specatacular which includes 'Paul's hymalyan Musk which has climbed to the very top of a pine tree.
